In a shop it is normally 18 but there are exceptions, it depends how you interpret the law, here is a section from
the supply of of goods law (UK).
The law prohibits the supply of solvents to people under 18yrs, when the supplier knows or has reasonable cause to believe the substance is likely to be used for the purpose of intoxication. The law also prohibits the supply of cigarette lighter refill canisters containing butane to a person under 18yrs.
I would guess that ''Pritt Stick'' is harmless as far as solvents are concerned so I don't think there can be
any legal reason why a responsible young teenager should not be able to buy it, I have never heard of anybody
that goes around sniffing Pritt Sticks, but I guess there's a first for everything..
18 is the answer - but only if the shop believes it may be going to be misused.
I would guess the shop doesn't trust its staff to know which glues contain sufficient solvent - or to judge the likely use - so adopts a blanket policy just in case.
It will be because the salesperson suspected it was for her. And if she had id it would have been the same answer because she would still have been u18 (unless the concern was that she wasn't your daughter rather than her actual age - in which case id might have helped).
I agree with that but I'd also boought everything I needed for a family meal and more. Plus she was in her PJ's so it's not like she was going out to party. Plus I would never share my wine...
In Sainsburys it is over 18 for any solvent based glue.
BTW,if you are any age don't try buying glue AND a packet of crisps at the same time.
Can't think why?ask me and I will tell you.
Well Jenna,
Since you seem to be the only intrigued person I will tell you.
Most if not all crisp packets are now made of a type of foil.
If you open the packet and throw away the crisps, the empty packet makes(it seems) a perfect recepticle for glue for the sniffing of!
You live and learn.
