Had some food overheat in oven and caused smoke inside the oven. Despite cleaning the oven several times, whenever it is on there is this dreadful sickening smell that lasts and lasts after I have used it. Please, please can someone come up with a good way of getting rid of this smell - I am getting to the stage where I dont want to use oven anymore as it re strengthens the smell coming from it when I do.

Is your oven gas or electric? We have gas and some time ago my good friend Mr Nobody spilt some olive oil in oven which caused a monstrous smell and smoke - impossible to cook - I was advised to keep oven turned on to "burn it off" - had to have kitchen door open (in January!) and it took 3 hours BUT it got rid of the problem.
