Screen size reduction

The height of the picture on my PC screen . has been reduced to about 75 per cent. leaving the lower 25 per cent blank .The width is full but possibly stretched.
Can anyone please advise me how to restore the picture to normality.

CRT or LCD?
If it's CRT, you just need to the width and height using the buttons on the front panel of the monitor.
If it's LCD you need to set your screen resolution to match the native resolution of the monitor - if you don't know the native resolution, you can look it up on the manufacturer's site, or post the make and model here.
How you set the resolution will depend on yor operating system. For XP:
Right-click a clear area of the screen
choose properties
Go to the settings tab
Slide the resolution slider so that it matches your monitor
Click OK

Thank you Rojash for your very quick and detailed response, however you are dealing with a 71 year old
who is not so bright.
I followed your instructions and got to properties but not the settings tab or the resolution slider.
The monitor is a Samtron TFT-LCD made by Samsung and I have not found the resolution level.
If you could try I again I would be grateful and promise that I will then call it a day.

Rojash has assumed your using windows XP, I'm guessing your using windows Vista which is a bit different...

1. Open Display Settings by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, clicking Personalization, and then clicking Display Settings.

2. Under Resolution, move the slider to the resolution you want, and then click Apply.

I am on Windows XP and I managed to restore the screen size by using the Systems restore programme by going back to yesterdays date.
