What was the German army doing in Egypt during the film "Raiders of the lost Ark"?  Egypt pre-war was a British protectorate.

Artistic license isn't it? The NAZIs had some interest in historical artistic artefacts which probably inspired Spielberg and he couldn't use Europe as a convincing archeological-religious setting.

The other films aren't exactly historical fact either
