Windows won't detect 2nd monitor

Hi, I am having some difficulty in using my second monitor with windows xp pro on my laptop. I am using a Macbook Pro Laptop with windows xp running in parallels, the 2nd monitor works fine with mac, but when using windows, if i slide a screen across to the other monitor it dissappears from the laptop screen and does not appear on the other monitor. Any advice would be gratefully received ! Thanks

What colour is the indicator light on the other monitor?

I'm assuming that you've gone into the video settings and checked the box "Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor"?

Seems it depends to some extent on your Macbook hardware and Display setup. Try entering 'macbook pro winxp second monitor' in Google, and browsing through the forums on this problem. Good Luck!

there is no 'extend my windows deskop' button on my display settings ! do I need to go into the bios ?

Have you downloaded the correct, latest windows drivers for what ever graphics card your mac has in it?

the standard windows drivers don't support dual monitors as far as I know.

thankyou chickunfickuns (dodgy username!) your suggestion worked, downloaded the 860GT driver from Nvidia, installed it through bootcamp, now works perfectly and added bonus, the screen resolution on Windows is now a million times better than before. Big thankyou to everyone for your suggestions, this problem has had me pulling my hair out for weeks !
