I have been asked by the Chairman of the Clayton-le-Woods RNLI Committee to help distribute copies of their latest Quiz to raise funds in support of the RNLI. The Quiz consists of 60 questions in which each answer is the name of a famous woman. She may be present, past, fact, fiction, sportswoman, artist, politician, pioneer, etc.

In view of the worthiness of the cause, I am happy to lend my support. The entry fee is £1 and a copy may be obtained from Valerie Hunter, 6 Meadow Croft, Fell Lane, Keighley, West Yorkshire, BD22 6EJ. The closing date is 9th January 2010 and there is a prize of £10 to the winner to be drawn at random from the top scorers.

At first glance, the clues do not appear to be (heavily) cryptic.
Examples taken directly from the Quiz (DO NOT answer here):
15. This lady refused to give up her seat. (4.5)
23. Holy mother, she's a singer (7)
51. A scientific cocktail! I.e. a rum with rice (5,5)

As for payment, you can use whatever method suits you best!
Where appropriate, the returned Quiz will be labelled as "Paid" and completed Quizzes are eventually to be sent directly to the Chairman of a local RNLI Committee, Sheila Wharton.
If you wish to pay by cheque, please make it payable to "Sheila Wharton".
Don’t forget to enclose s.a.e. to return your copy of the Quiz.

This Quiz is NOT to be confused with the NEXT Dragonfly Quiz, which is still being compiled!

10ClarionSt, Thanks for your input. My efforts and time spent on this particular Quiz are minimal compared to the setter of the Quiz. I have taken things on face value when agreeing to help. I am not in a position to dispute (or endorse) your comments.

My major charity effort remains as being setter of the Dragonfly Quizzes, which truly is a "Labour of Love".
Ignoring 10 ClarionSt is this available by e mail at all? By the way I think the RNLI are brilliant and deserve any money given to them

Many Thanks to all you who have already sent for this Quiz.

One eagle-eyed participant has noticed that Question 34 is missing!

The maximum score is therefore 59.
