order of priority

My girlfriend got threatened a few months ago by the local yobs who constantly congregate outside our house evrynight drinking. The police took all details of what happened and said they will look into it so we thought they would pay us a visit. 4 days later she gets a phone call asking her if she could go down to the station to make a statement which is a bit out of order.
Recently we had a visit off an officer from the local station because my neighbour had put a report in that my youngest lad had made a racist remark against her aughter. On the night in question there were about 13 kids in the my front garden having a laugh and minding their own business, so how the hell she could she say or even pick out the one who said it, if it did happen.
The police hounded me to take him down to give a statement of what happened otherwise they would have to arrest him. I put a complaint in to the IPCC about the response time and the fact that my partner got a phone call 4 days after being threatened yet my neighbour put a report in and she got a visit within minutes.
The police said,'t goes in order of priority', Whats more priority, threatning behaviour or name calling?

Emsiwemsi: Unfortunately this is a common practice within the politically correct police service of nowadays. Any 'hate' crime, no matter how silly, will recieve a priority response, in some cases, even over serious incidents. I would of hoped the police service would have learnt from the tragic events recently revealed in Leicestershire with regard to dealling with reports of threatening and abusive gangs of yobs.

The IPCC will probably refer your complaint back to the force to deal with (dont expect much).

Well I'm not sure why being asked to go down to the station to make a statement is 'a bit out of order'

Name calling is threatening behaviour, so I'd regard the priority as equal. Sounds like the police may have sub priorities though.

And they may (wrongly I hope) suspect you of double standards:
