Lord Tebbit has said Mr Cameron was driving traditional Tory voters to the UK Independence Party.

Could the Tories lose a lot of voters to UKIP? Is there a danger of the Tory vote being split and letting Labour back in?

Tebbit's been in trouble before for tacitly supporting UKIP

Well it's possible but UKIp is a party that's had 2 MEP's guilty of fraud and a leader who's boasting of having claimed £2 million in expenses from his position as an MEP

This will probably not go down well in the current climate
In a local election perhaps, but pro Europe and therefore anti EU voters will back the Tories in a general election, mainly to get the current shower of sh1te out.
You have asked the question Gromit, what do you think the Tories should do to prevent the vote being split?
As a regular UKIP voter, if anything David Cameron is drawing me back towards the possibility of voting Conservative.
I think AOG Cameron only has to point to Farage's current motley crew

Not only that pair and his own pocket lining but then there's Godfrey Bloom

Comments like "women who are prostitutes because they like it" and "being called a p@ki is no different to being called a Brummie"

will not win the ethnic or female vote

I don't know, Cameron has a problem. Leaving the EU would be disastrous for the country and a professional politician like him knows it. But his core voters want just that, so the best he can do is try and fudge it like he has been doing. I don't think the Tory vote will split, unless some backbenchers or old duffers start to rock the boat, but that would be madness with a very winnable election looming.
