The question asker can close them. Either because they have the answer they want, it's descended into an argument or they want to annoy someone.

I was having a debate with Rov1200 when he closed the post ending the debate. As I had something I wished to add, I opened another post just to give my comment, then closed it.

Sorry if that inconvenience anyone. If anyone does wish to continue the debate, I have reopened my thread below.
