With the recent tv ads and publicity would you, or do you, carry an organ donor card, or would you agree to donate a loved one's organs? I do and I would and made it very clear to my husband when we got married, 24 years ago, that I wanted to but wonder why there is still such a shortage of organs. Perhaps a bit late on a Sunday evening for this topic but just wondered if anyone had a family member affected.
I would certainly donate!
My nephew needed a kidney not so long ago - and in the end it had to come from my brother. They could not find a compatable donor.
I better update then sara and mcfluff cos I didn't know that. I agree though about the liver. I think they should perhaps stay away from my liver and kidneys. They can have anything else though.
Thanks Jan.
My brother (NOT the recipient's father BTW) and my nephew are both fully recovered.
My nephew has put on some weight and got himself into a job, which he had never been well enough to do before.
I can understand why it is difficult for family members because they have to ask you so soon after the death, when most people are in shock. It's a very difficult subject and that is why I think you have to decide before hand.
