MacBook RAM upgrade - worth it?

Hi ABers!

I'm just about to finally give in and buy a Mac.
I swore I never would, but I can't resist any longer, they're just too good.
My question is, when ordering one there is an option to upgrade from 2Gb RAM up to 4Gb (it's the new unishell, 2.26Ghz model)... is it worth the £60 for an upgrade, or is 2Gb sufficient on this model?

The first thing is what are you going to be doing with it?

If it's just general internet use, emails, writing the odd letter ect then 2GB will be enough, if you are going to be doing things like video editing, or editing large photos then 4GB would be better.

Also I'd be asking what configuration the RAM comes in if you do get it with 2GB, the computer will have 2 RAM slots, if, when you buy it with 2GB, it comes with 2 x 1GB chips then you will have to remove one or both of them if you decide to upgrade in the future, if it comes with one single 2GB chip then you can simply add to it at a later date.

If you decide to buy, don`t upgrade at the time. 60 pounds is way too much for 2GB of ram.
If you need it you can add it later

that depends on my second point, if the 2GB comes as 2x1GB then they would have to buy 4GB to upgrade it in the future which would be more than 60quid

Sorry for the late reply... it's 2x1Gb RAM, with expansion to 4Gb. I've actually got the macbook now and it seems lightning fast at pretty much everything. It also appears to be very easy to replace/upgrade the RAM size at home, so i think i'll take trish's advice and source it aftermarket.
