I really dont know what i want to do for work experience in yr 10. Could you give me a good website which will help me choose? im interested in sport and wouldnt mind doing something to do with being a fitness instructor or something similar to that.

I tried to search this site, for jobs connected with the word "sport" but it says you have to sign up for a free account. I thought it would probably be easier if you sign up for an account yourself and search the site for things that truly interest you.

Also, you could go to www.yell.com and search for businesses to do with sport in your local area. You could try to get work experience with your local football or rugby club, or at one of the local gyms.

http://www.sportscareers.com/ That is an American site, but I suppose some of the job profiles will be the same.

The best tips I can give you are for on your work experience:

• Look smart and tidy


• Be punctual and polite


• Be enthusiastic


• Ask lots of questions


• Remember that you will get out of it, as much as you put in!

You might have difficulty in finding a work experience placement within a gym (or similar environment) - because there's probably not a lot of things which an unqualified person can do in these sort of places - but these problems are not always insurmountable. (When I was teaching, I had a great deal to do with work experience and we managed to get our Year 10 students into lots of unusual jobs!). Speak to the teacher responsible for work experience and seek his/her advice. Also try to speak to the staff of local sports centres and gymnasia to see if they can help.

Just a final thought: Some sports qualifications aren't age-restricted. The school I taught at had two year 9 students who were so keen on aerobics that they both achieved their qualifications to teach aerobics shortly after their 14th birthdays. They then ran free aerobics classes, in the school gym, for two lunchtimes each week. These were always incredibly well attended, with at least half a dozen teachers (as well as over 50 students) joining in every session. So why not see if you can get yourself a coaching award in one of your favourite sports? It might help you get a work experience placement, it could be useful for a future career but, most importantly of all, you'd probably enjoy doing it!

go to www.leisureopportunities.co.uk , this will give you an idea of all leisure related jobs. I've got a sports degree and got my first job through that site.

PS: If its work experience, watch out!!! as I ended up cleaning underneath a swim pool on my first one!! Plasters everywhere, ........that was a long time ago though!
