What console to buy?

I want to buy a new console.
I have a toddler and wife who love Kareoke and so am looking to play those type of games.
Myself? well I like the old fashioned WW2 type games with the old sniper rifle and shooting all the badies. Like Halo as well.
The wife was talking about WII, I was looking at 360 Live or PS3.

Singster is the definitive kraoke game with the widest choice of songs - you can even download more!

There's loads of the POV shooter type games available for it too.

singstar probably is still the singing game of choice but the 360 does have lips which is in a very similar vein.

also if you game as a family you may want to look at the Rock Band or Guitar hero games where you can not only sing but play drums, guitar and bass - those games are available on 360 and PS3.

if you like halo then it must be a 360 as it is cheaper but then if you watch a lot of movies the ps3 is more expensive but has a blu ray player.

personally im a 360 gamer through and through. altho i have no experience of ps3 at all i am told by those in the know that the online experience is far superior on 360.

its an awkward one with a toddler in the family as the wii is obviously aimed far more at the younger family.

PS3 everytime! Blu-ray player is a must. Curry's are doing a buy now pay 12 months time, with the option to pay any amount a month until the 12 months is up.

We had a PS3, but got rid of it and now have a 360 (and a wii).

We loved the singstar and the I don't think the sing store is as good as it could be. Also we always felt there was not enough choice of games, especially since we like to play two hander games, 360 just seems to have so much more to offer.

I own both and would recommend the 360 anytime. The whole experience is better from navigating the menus to playing the online side of things. The downside is £40 a year for Xbox Live although that can be found at less than that with an internet search. For your £40 you get smoother online play, voice chat included out of the box rather than having to pay for a headset and the chance to block players you find obnoxious or sweary. However, at £80ish less than the PS3 you effectively get 2 years free online play.

Lips is available for the 360 which is their version of SIngstar, both are much or a muchness. As already stated, Rock Band, Guitar Hero and now Band Hero are all available which do the same thing, but with drums and guitar as well. All good clean family fun.

Call of Duty games are availble on both consoles which should satisfy your urge to shoot people in the head, but if you want Halo it's a 360 exclusive.

The PS3 has the Blu Ray player, but to be honest with an average 32" HD TV and a 360 Elite running with an HDMI port you'll struglle to notice the difference as that upscales your normal DVDs anyway. The PS3 has just got iPlayer support , whilst you can now have Skyplayer on your 360 if you already subscribe. The PS3 has wireless compatibility out of the box as well, whilst the 360 requires Microsoft's adaptor - best bought from ebay as it's cheapest there.

The choice is yours, but I would recommend the 360 every day to anyone
