just got a new puppy

Long time since I had a puppy but alays had dogs, any advice tips on anything . Food, feeding, what to not feed how often, should I give her milk, Its a lab 8weeks old

Did the breeder not give you a puppy diet sheet, as you need to continue with what the breeder was doing.

As a general rule of thumb, she will need feeding four times a day until she is 16 weeks old, and then three times until six months when you can reduce to twice. I feed puppies two milky meals (goats milk with cereal or scrambled egg), and two meat meals being puppy kibble.

The current practice is to avoid cow's milk. It's too 'rich' for a puppy. Have fun with your new friend !

I'm a bit worried about this pup. The fact that the breeder didn't give you full instructions on how to care for it doesn't give much confidence. How did you find the breeder, did you see the parents and the conditions that the pup was kept in?

The Breeder did tell us what he had been feeding her on(wainwrights 0 to 6months puppy food) Im asking advice from the point of view over the past 3 yrs we have lost 3 dogs (all Labs)to old age16,14 and 12yrs things have chaged since they were pups. It was tips really

I dont think things have changed that much in recent years, just some people have different views. I have been feeding puppies the same way for the last 25 years, although I agree back when I was a child (looooong time ago, LOL!). we fed the dogs on a tinned meat and biscuit diet, with table scraps. But it is a shock to the system when you havnt had a puppy for a long time, and you wonder what has hit you and if you are doing the right thing, but they are all worth it!
