She Who Could Easily Be Christine Hamilton's doppelganger - both in looks and personality (it's gotta be better than Edwina Currie or, God Forbid, Cherie Blair....)
Now the old bird aint that bad once she's got a few gins inside of her - but before the gin-relaxant has sunk in she can be a bit, shall we say, snooty. And to her, anyone outside of Wales and North of London is "a Northerner", and therefore foreign and common.
How can I impress her without being obsequious (I had to spellcheck that; a rarity for me)? Flowers? More Gin? M&S Finest Truffles? I would try the standing on the table with my skirt round my ankles singing "I Did It My Way", but I think that ought to wait until at least after the after-dinner mints.
I could tell her today's earlier Stories of Lil's Embarrassments... but I think only Lincolnshire people 'get' the humour of that.
What can I do?
