Hi. On starting up my pc (Packard Bell sli 6800 Windows XP Home) the Windows XP boot up screen came up..........and stayed with the bar constantly scrolling across. On rebooting it back in safe mode the following error message appeared 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0x805A6839, 0xF78BE578, 0x00000000).
Has anyone any ideas if this is recoverable (ie a RAM change etc) or requiring a full reinstall? Have a few projects for work and home on it that wasnt backed up, all other data including fotos have religiously been backed up weekly. Rather try n sort than spend a day starting from scratch. Thanks ABers
I have blown out any dust from the machine using compressed air canister. 4 differing fans in there n all were and are operating. Which cud be causing the problem n how to sort it pls? Thanks
Go to the Start menu and select Run. Type in chkdsk /r and press enter. Answer Yes to run it on next restart or reboot. When next restarting or rebooting, a check process will run. Takes a while and might fix the errors so do something else while this runs!
I'd also try removing all your ram and then if you have more than one stick trying each one on it's own, if not just taking it out and putting it back may help also remove and reseat the graphics card if it's a separate one
Will try n do the RAM and graphic card check shortly. Can get my BIOS up, or the error message page, or the constantly running window bar so unsure how to do chkdsk with the recovery console. Is that the same as my recovery disk? Will that go into system restore? And finally, the error codes seem to mean something to someone. How is it best to check without forking out to PC World etc? Could it be the fan or a power problem as previously mentioned from fellow ABers? Thank you
