nursing diploma or degree??

this is driving us nuts on our access course! Any nurses out there who can advise please? And is it true that its the healthcare assistants that do all the hands on nursing?

What do you mean by 'hands on nursing'?
HCA's do the bed changing,toiletting,bathing and ocassionally do the obs,other than that the nurses do everything...although i'm not sure what is left after those things.lol

I mean being with the patient and treating them for their individual needs. Talking to them, giving them reassurance and yes probably injections! Would you agree then that most nurses do paperwork and delagate to hca.s . worried now that im doing the right thing! arhhhh (im 41) and very worried that im taking the wrong career path, julie

I have been an inpatient many times. I would say a good 70% of the actual nursing I received was by the HCA's. Nurses tended to be the ones to give out drugs,do injections and change dressings.They also were the ones to discuss my treatment with me and reassure me when needed.
