time off sick/ grades

last year, my total atendance was about 90% but now that i havent had any times off since the start of september, almost all my grades/ average tests results have gone down.

why would this be, when the school were saying that they may have to mintor me (last year) to make sure my grades weren't being affected.

why are your grades and attendance linked? surel if you are putting the same amount of effort in your grades would be the same?

The school were saying that they were going to send someone round to make sure i was properly ill, so i don't miss school work, meaning i don't learn as much, meaning my grades go down. I worked out that i only went to half of my lessons last january, during which my class did the work for 1/3 of my biology exam, which i got an a* in.

ps mintor was meant to be monitor.

Plus they did most the work for another exam which i got 100% in.

sorry, I still don't understand how test results have anything to do with attendance, if you do revision at home surely that makes up for the work you missed at school? or are you graded on the stuff you do in lessons as well?

Our teachers do random, unexpected tests on us after a topic/ convient point (which we are normaly unaware of or if we are, have so much coursework to do, we don't have time to revise.) so if you've been away for a week out of the last month, a quarter of the test you will be clueless on, plus they don't give you time to catch up, only a few lessons at the end of each half term, to recap, which tells you a bit about what you missed.

oh right, don't know why they would be going down then, are you finding the lessons more difficult than last year, sometimes the step up between years can be quite big and maybe you need some extra support this year, is there anyone at school you can speak to?

its the second year of my gcse's and the only subject that the teachers said gets difficult is some parts of maths and some of the science, everything else is carrying on from what we were doing last year.

but just because the teachers have said it's only those subjects getting more difficult doesn't mean they shouldn't be giving you more support if you are finding it all more difficult! have you tried speaking to anyone at school about it?

But the thing is i'm not finding it more dificult, i'm just scoring lower/ the same on tests.

I don't know what to suggest then, if you don't want to get help from your teachers I doubt anyone here can offer an explanation of why you're scoring lower on tests.

But i asked one of them and they were confused, suggesting that i work so hard to catch up, i do extra stuff, which means i go beyond what i'm usualy capabale of.

but because i always have a couple of days at least off each half term, its the only half term for a while that i've only been working at normal, not extra capacity, if that makes sense.

We got a report each yesterday, and all of my grades are bs and as, rather than cs, bs and 2 as.

But i did only get a b in my biology and physics courseworks, and i'm normally as good as or better at coursework than exams and last year i got an a in physics and a* in biology
