Increasing water pressure in shower
4 Answers
I have a shower over bath in an upstairs bathroom. The shower comes out of the bar between the taps and is powered I think by gas central heating and there is a big boiler tank thing in a cupboard in the bedroom next door to the bathroom.
There is very little water pressure coming out of the shower and I was wondering if there was any easy way of increasing it.
I rent the place so can't go messing about too much.
Thank you for any suggestions :)

In the UK this almost certainly means it is vented (not pressurised to mains pressure). This in turn leads to the practice of having both hot and cold at gravity pressure set by the header tank (in the attic ?) at the highest level available to your dwelling - this in order to equalise the pressure of both hot and cold. This being the case, you can only increase the pressure by fitting a shower pump (an electrically powered item) fitted into the plumbing. An alternative is to convert to a mains pressure hot water storage tank or install a combi boiler which heats up water as you use it, at mains pressure. Your hot water will (if my interpretation is correct) be heated by a conventional vented boiler.
