...we are just about to renew ours with them and they have been most helpfull dealing with hubbie's newly diagnosed diabetes type 2.
The Post Office have good reviews - give 'em a call. You may have to pay a little extra to get covered for 'pre-existing' whereever you go, but at least if you start off low, it gives you leeway.

As far as I know they don't charge any extra for pre-exisiting medical conditions, they just like to know incase you make a claim.

They don't guarantee cover but say they are more sympathetic. I don't know what the prices are like though.
