I made a treacle cake a couple of days ago, and incase i didn't like it, i didn't put much treacle in.
Anyway , ever since i first tasted it, i have been trying to put my figner on the flavour and suddenly, today it came to me. Raisins, it tastes of fruit cake but without the texture of the raisins and sultanas in it, just the flavour of the raisins ect all over. Is this normal?
Its nice, just not what i expected, if i had put more treacle in (i used half of what recipe said because i thought it was too strong when i had it on toast) would it have been more treacley and less raisiny?
Does it matter what it tastes like...as long as you like it?? Treacle is not something you would normally eat on its own...it is a very concentrated flavor.
