She Moved Through The Fair

I've been trying to find out who sings a particular version of this song.

The singer is female, and it's quite an up-tempo version, compared to others I've heard. There is a fiddle between the verses, and it seems more comtemporary than folky.

I can tell you who it's not..... Mary Black, Mary McLaughlan, Loreena McKennitt , Sinead O'Connor, Maire Brennan, Anuna, Meav, Charlotte Church, or Fairport Convention.

Anyone know who it might be? I know it's difficult as it's been covered a lot, but any ideas welcome (I've only just found out the title after looking for it for 10 years!). Thanks.

Julianne Regan from "All About Eve" did a version, as did Charlotte Church.

I know this isn't really the answer you're looking for, but Van Morrison has a version of it too, and it's good.

Could it be the most excellent Cara Dillon? Oh, and Julianne Regan performed it with All About Eve (it sounded as though LondonDave might be implying she's done it solo. She may have done, but she did it with the band first!)

All About Eve sounds like a good possibility. I like a couple of the songs they've done anyway. Although Van Morrison isn't what I'm looking for, I might still check it out. Have never heard of Cara Dillon, but I'll do my best to find her version. I'll let you know how I get on. Thanks to all of you.

If you go to www.allmusic.com and type in the song name you'll get a long list - not too many female artists, so you should be able to narrow it down.
