Headphones....? Help

I have decided that it is time to get a better pair of headphones for my micro system so I can just listen to a c/d without loading sonic stage and transfering to my mini disc. I want mid-priced (possibly Sennheiser) Stereo rather than surround, I love guitar riffs ( in to Muse at the moment) but I don't know wether to have open or closed. I would appreciate any advice from headphone users.

the thing with headphones is often its a personal preference thing........
