Is This Lady Really Not A "Proper Muslim"?

Conservative Peer Baroness Warsi pelted with eggs and verbally abused by Muslim men on a walkabout in Luton where of course a group of Muslim men demonstrated against our troops marching through the town following a tour of duty in Afghanistan earlier this year.

The Baroness, herself a Muslim, branded her abusers as "idiots who did not represent the majority of British Muslims."

Is she correct? Or has she betrayed her own culture and upbringing by sharing a platform on Question Time recently with the BNP's Nick Griffin? She needed a Police Escort to continue the walkabout today.

Is Luton a hotbed of Muslim fundamentalism and disaffection?

she should not be a baroness in the first place. its a politically correct appointment, and devalues the title

Betrayed her own culture? By that do you mean that those who verbally abused her and demonstrated against our troops were somehow a credit to their culture? Yes, she is correct to call them idiots (in fact they're not just idiots - they're dangerous idiots) and it's a pity there aren't more like her who are willing to speak up.
Not sure I quite follow your logic. If Griffin had have been pelted with eggs by fellow Brits would that be proof that he was not a "Proper Brit"?

She holds moderate views while her attackers would appear to be an extremist element.

As with with the incident with the homecoming troops being abused, the perpetrators you can count on one hand, yet their actions are reported as though all muslims hold these views. They do not. They are representative. They are, as the Baroness rightly said, just idiots.

It devalues the title Baz?

I'm sure Jamie Blandford will be writing her letters of protest - when next he's sober
I know little of the Baroness but it would seem on the face of it that she perhaps is a good example of what we are forever told, and that is "all Muslims are not the same".

Having said that, she is in a prime position to truly be a figurehead in the fight for Women's rights in the Muslim world. If not in the whole Muslim world, perhaps in this country would be a start.

She along with other prominent Muslims , could also be more vocal in the condemnation of fanatical Muslims in this country and throughout the rest of the world.
birdie /// Maybe she thinks that powerful female Muslims are acceptable in Islam? ////

Maybe she has been to Pakistan and seen the former prime minister?

Maybe she is a muslim who accepts freedom of speech. I don't know whether or not that is against the muslim religion or not.
