i am after some advice....my daughter was standing in a bus shelter when a stolen car lost control and collided with my daughter and the bus shelter ...my daughter sustained some injuries
i need to know what to do next with regards to compensation....who do she claim against

Yip, MIB. See a lawyer. I got knocked down by a drunk driver with no insurance a few years back. I saw a lawyer and had to get photos taken of my injuries (check local photographers to see who does photos for criminal injury comp cases) and keep a diary of my injuries and expenses incurred (taxis to and from hospital, payment for photos etc). It took a while, but I eventually got 2.5k after lawyers fees - this was 13 years ago so it was more than it sounds now.

As far as the injuries/photographing is concerned I would personally take the photos myself (or a member of family do it). I was hit by a car about 5 years ago and I wasn't comfortable with someone photographing my body (maybe it's just me but as a parent I wouldn't want my daughter being photographed, especially if it was of private areas)...
With a digital camera you can just take 100's of photos and as long as you have the lense cap off (lol) you will get some nice photos. The worse it looks the more compensation she is likely to get.

I wasn't going to take compensation for my accident because I didn't feel it was right but believe me some injuries never heal. I hope she takes them for the lot!

I agree with trying the MIB.

If there is a 'known defendant' you could sue them, but its likely to take longer and you probably won't get as much as typically thieves don't have much money. Suing them and trying the MIB won't get you any more money either, so just take the easiest option and use the MIB.
