Georgian Style 15 - Light Door

I have purchased an untreated glazed door - knotty pine effect. I want to hang it in a wall between my projected new fitted kitchen and fitted utility room, both to be clad in beech effect chamfered doors, drawers and panels. My family think it should be painted white, like other (solid) doors leading off these rooms, whereas I reckon it would enhance the overall picture if I stain it in a light beech tone. Has anyone - an interior designer maybe! - any advice: it will be warmly welcomed. Thank you.

Hi, I am an interior architect with over 16yrs experience and from the information you have provided, I would lean toward the side of the rest of your family as staining a pine door especially knotty pine as although you may accomplish the beach affect but the knots in the pine will certainly make the door look like a stained pine door, it will also enhance the asthetics of your fake beach kitchen for all of the wrong reasons.

I would advise anybody who has a newer fittted kitchen not to try and add traditional fixtures to the room as it will alsway divert the eye from the main focal point, namely in this case your kitchen. Don't let a pine door spoil the cost of a very expensive kitche. I hope this has been some help for you.
