I bought a turkey crown from Tesco, that is stuffed and topped with bacon from their finest range, only small serves 3-5 so the packet says but I am not so sure (am disappointed with size of it - bad purchase!)

My question is the packet says for best results to cook from frozen - do you think this is okay I was expecting to defrost if first?

Thanks

If the instructions say cook from frozen then that's the best way to cook it.

I too would definately defrost before cooking. I would take it out of the freezer about 24 hours before cooking and when defrosted put in the normal fridge. Try cooking in a roasting bag, I have cooked my crown this way and it turned out fantastic, very tasty!! Use some of the fat to make your gravy and if you need a good receipt for that I can help!! Good luck and happy Xmas.
I bought an 8lb plus fresh turkey crown a few weeks ago and froze it straight away, but i would be defrosting it 2 days before Xmas day. If it is cook from frozen it may be like one of those matthews turkey roasts and not a real crown at all.
dont know about the froen bit, but don't worry about the size -crowns do look small in my opinion,, but dont forget that is all breast

Receipt can be another word for recipe. Not used so much these days but means the same.
Well do you want to know how to make the gravy?

Hi Whitelady, I would be interested in your recipe for gravy.

Thanks for everyones comments, got plenty of trimmings to go with it so will not worry about the size of it.
