Every time I run across an error in a crossword, I never seem to be able decide which is the best way to work around the error.............and more important, how does the error affect the acceptable solution

Just have to assume it's meant to be 69a, as the answer is obviously Asia. Shouldn't happen but proofreaders are only human. Should not affect the acceptable solution.

sorry old salt ,it is probably a misprint as there is no clue for 69a so this must be the place for the answer
