Managers complaining about referees

Sunderland's Steve Bruce is the latest manager who's in trouble with the FA for his criticism of the referee following the defeat to Man City at the weekend.

Have there been any instances of a manager criticising the referee for having a poor game after a win for his side?

I remember Mike Riley being escorted off the pitch at Goodison in an F.A cup game straight after disallowing a perfectly good last minute goal for Ipswich that would have earned them a replay.
Their discipline was exemplary, I'd never seen that befor, or since.

Not mentioning the referee after a defeat is becoming the exception.

You should try listening to John Aldridge on Radio City, what a t o s s e r.

Luckily (by the sounds of it) I haven't come across that radio station.

The station's ok, it's just Aldridge, he wasn't so critical when he had 12 men on the pitch (and scored) in the F.A cup.
He blames the linesman for everything, questions what team the ref supported as a boy, they got beat by Portsmouth last week and it was all the refs fault, I know Kopites who won't listen to him.
The ref's neutral so noone stands up for him and everyone is free to pick on him, David Moyes did say after the F.A cup semi final with Man Utd. that he thought they should have had a penalty in extra time.

As a tv viewer, I always reckon that if an single action replay doesn't show a decision to be blatantly wrong then the referee made a good decision even if umpteen replays from different angles ultimately prove otherwise.

Dagnabit I was trying to think of an apt 3 letter word.

I'm all for instant replays but you can bet that then they'll be complaining about other decisions for which replays aren't used.

Its very difficult being a Ref and not having the technology that the viewers have with so many cameras and decisions have to be made on the spot.
I think that refs should have a say on TV after the game just like managers and players have.

Yes they should - can't remember whether they choose not to or if there's a directive from the FA (or whoever) that they shouldn't appear in front of the cameras.

But how many tennis tournaments could afford Hawkeye that's used at Wimbledon? And how many football grounds can afford undersoil heating?

Where it can be afforded, use it.

Yes Steve that's what I meant. The money at the top level is such that finance is no excuse for changes like these not to happen, it's a bonus that at lower levels of the game just isn't used, simple as that.
