Took a parcel in for a neighbour this evening.......

Knock on door and deliveryman asked me to take in a parcel for next door.......signed for it and it's in the sitting room.
I was extremely surprised nobody was in next door as they are both in their 80's and don't go out much, but I have checked and there are no lights on.
They could have........
1. Gone away to their kids for Xmas
2. Be dead
My problem is that on examining the parcel it's a plant/flowers from M&S.........what do I do with it ?

I would wait until tomorrow, some old people wont answer the door after a certain time in the evening

its that time of year when u should check on your neighbours to see if they are ok, well ive got an 84 year old woman living next door, and she hasnt bothered to come round and see how i am, in fact the lazy cow hasnt taken the milk in for a fortnight.

Would just feel awful if they come home in a couple of days and the sodding plant/flowers are dead.....but I don't like to open the box.

I would put a note thro the door tonight as they might well be in bed early as it's so cold. Keep trying their door. If still no sign I would ask the police if they know if neighbours are away . (Do people still tell police if they are going away I know my Mum always did as she lived alone and didn't want her door kicked in by helpful police looking for her )

Do you have much to do with them ? Would they notify you if they went away?

been out again and still no lights on......went to another neighbour who they chat to......she doesn't know if they're away or not............I think the ciggie fumes may kill whatever it is.......
