Introducing a cat to another cat?

Hi, i have a 4 year old half ferral female cat, and my daughter has told me she no longer wants her 3 year old female cat, i would love to take her but im worried about introducing them both and the best way to do it without my cat ripping it to pieces or my daughters cat running away. Any ideas please? Thank you.

UPDATE they seem to be getting on ok no fighting just alittle hissing but nothing major, it seems to be the new one in the camp thats doing all the domineering jestures. xx

Not going brilliantly, she still is hissing and growling at my cat, she wont go out, and has poo`d and wee`d on my sheepskin rug, not happy about that and dont really want the litter tray hanging about cos ive 2 very young grandkids. :(
