A bee has taking a liking to a deep screw hole on the garden hose reel at home.  It keeps coming back with these little segments of leaf (presumably which its chewed to shape) and stuffing them in the hole and cementing them with a waxy substance (pollen?).  Is it trying to build a nest?  I remember the same happening when one made a home in the back of one of my PC speakers once?  Any ideas....

I would advise caution... this doesn't sound like behavior of most bees... more likely a variety of wasp.  At any rate, you may wish to eliminate the critter before more of his/her room-mates show up...
The bee that you are referring to is called the Leaf Cutter Bee and you can find out more here http://www.bluewisteria.co.uk/bluewisteria.html?pest/lea fcutterbee.html
Well... that's certainly a possibility.  I was unaware that ya'll had Leaf Cutter Bees.  They are sold commercially here in the U.S. for help with some specific crops.  Nice thing is, they are one variety that are not aggressive and have only a mild sting...

Excellent Thank you!!

This is interesting since something has been tearing great big chunks out of all the plants and trees in the garden.  Is it possible that there are many of these bees in the proximity all working on their own little nests?
