Not sure of the Word Play but

Only word I can find that fits the letters given is
Disenamour
Like Emeritus I too cannot see word play !

i = i
caught = c

up mean put all that backwards = cinem

in the past = ago
extremely aeger = er (1st and last letters)

thus:- cinem ago er [patron]
