I have this option on a form to register my two week old daughter with our local doctor.

What is is? Do I need it? What are the pros and cons of having it?

We signed it, and I think it is so that they can keep tabs on what injections the little one has had/is due so that you get reminders. Sorry I can't be more specific but when the health visitor explained it it did make sense to sign.
You need to be registered with a doctor to be able to get an appointment to see one - in theory. In reality, probably if you turned up with a baby who had something majorly wrong they would see her, but you never know. You might ring to make an appointment to see a doctor with her and they'll refuse if she's not registered.

I am registering her with a doctor I was just wondering about this child health surveilance thingy.

I don't understand how there could be any "con" whatsoever to signing up........................

Speak to your health visitor if you really need info.

Hope I'm not too late, just seen the Q. Child Health Surveillance encompasses not only vacs and imms but also things like hearing and sight testing. In fact, everything else to do with ensuring your child grows and develops healthily and 'normally'. It is never the wrong box to tick
