Brief Central Heating Question

I want to keep my combi boiler on 24hrs at the moment to save pipes freexing etc. is it advisable to turn boiler to say 30% and leave rads up high? or to turn rads lower and have boiler at 50%

Now I have kids I have a digital thermostat that sets temperature down to 17 degrees at night, then up to 21 degrees in the daytime. These digital thermostats are about £28 and probably save their own cost in bills.
