not sure but could you not make it a joint bank account then maybe they will not beable to take it into account

Yes but the local authority will see it as a device to avoid paying nursing fees and react accordingly.

In this country you get punished for prudence ask any pensioner.

She can make gifts to you but you are best off speaking to an accountant they are very reasonable and most initial consultations are free.
