This is the 4th day I have felt ill. My symptoms are aching all over, stomach upset, headache and feeling tired and drained. My temperature is normal, but have hot and cold sweats and feel nauseous. I feel so ill and want to sleep all the time. My tummy is making some weird and wonderful noises, if and when I eat or drink something. I have no appetite and my taste and smell is off. I dont really want to bother the doctor. Anybody else had this? Should I eat? or just starve myself for a day? I am drinking plenty of water.....

You should go to the doctors. People here may be well meaning but few are experts.

i would have sugested going to doctors though they will be shut today ,so if you phone these numbers they will be able to direct you on what to do x
Deni.....this problem sounds viral in origin, probably one of the adeno viruses. Drink plenty of fluid, or suck on an ice cube. If you feel like eating, then do so, whatever you fancy.

As cherry says, 4 days is a long time and dehydration may well become a problem. Nip the skin of your arm and if it does not retract straight away, then you may well be dehydrate.

I am not a fan of NHS Direct.

My advice, is to call your GP today, stressing the length of time that you have been ill.

See what you mean Squad. Just phoned NHS helpline and they are only dealing with emergencies. Been on their assessment website put in my symptoms and it reports "No antiviral needs to be taken". Its weird as I have no raised temperature, but still the headache and aches that go with it!. Stomach runs not too bad now, am drinking loads of water, just feel so drained. Thanks for your advice.
Keep us informed Den.

Finally spoke to a real person at NHS Direct. I have got the classic symptoms of Norovirus apparently. Highly contagious. Am not allowed to prepare food for anybody until 48 hours after symptoms are gone.
Den...that sounds a reasonable diagnosis and good advice.
