How are moles removed these days?

I have an uneven shaped one which has been itching so I am seeing the Doc tomorrow. I've never seen a doctor about a mole before so have no idea how they get rid of them now. Any ideas?

if they think it's been misbehaving, they will probably do a biopsy first to check it's nothing sinister.

In my doctors surgery they have a day for minor things like this. They'll numb it and cut it off...maybe a stitch or two. 5 minute job.

If it is small and doesn't look suspicious, then it will be excised and biopsied.........3 or 4 stitches under local anaesthesia.

If it is large and suspicious, then a piece will be taken for biopsy. Depending upon the result of biopsy will depend upon further management.

I had a largish mole removed from my stomach a few years ago. It was done at my GP's, they used to have someone come in for a minor surgery clinic.

He looked at it, said mmmm, I think we will remove that and send it for biopsy. I had an injection to numb it and it was removed, 5 stitches, dressing and it was over.

Stitches removed a week later and biopsy results given (all okay).

The worst bit of it all, to be honest, was the injection.

They can paint some sort of wart remover type stuff on, which then turns the mole black, it dries up and eventually falls off.

I've had two removed, one at a hospital where they cut the area and stitched it with 4 small stitches. The second was more recent, and was done at my dr surgery. He was able to snip it off and kind of "burn" it sealed, so no stitches needed!
