shingles??

Hi - I have a red patch on one temple for the last coupl e of days and its now spread over towards the middle of forehead along hairline.  Not itchy but feels and looks like a burn (not sun burn!)  Went to see the doc and he says it might well be shingles (arggh) but until it blisters and therefore proves its shingles he cant treat it.  What do you think? Is there anything I can do in the meantime and if its not the start of shingles - what could it be?   Doc said its def. not excema or psoraisis (spelling?) and I havent changed or used any products, nor dyed hair recently.  Thanks in advance - I looked up shingles and saw some pics on the web and am terrified!

I think you will find that Shingles starts on the body and travels up the nerve so you would have a red rash diagonally across your trunk. Good luck anyway
