I stop smoking for good. I promised I'd do it when I turned 30. Well, it's taken another 3 years, but I am resolutely determined to quit the nasty habit for good now. Besides the obvious pitfalls of smoking, it exacerbates my wheeziness and will, in time, take it's toll on my skin. So there you have it. Wish me luck !

HI salla, lovely seeing you pet, It was something last night, we went out to the pub quiz, we meet the others in the bar then go to the lounge...
when we went in I notice a man sitting at the bar alone just staring into his pint, I didn't recognize him, but that in itself wouldn't have been unusual, someone raised the question of the latest soldier to be killed in Afghanistan and they though he may belong where we live, this poor guy turned around came to our table, tears streaming down his face, told us it was his son and how immensely proud of him he was, his face is etched in my mind even now salla

KATE x x x
good luck nomercy take one day at a time and put thoughts of cigarettes out of your head, the more you focus on them the more you will crave them, remember 90% of the craving is just the habit and not a chemical craving
Oh bobbi - that's such a sad story, no wonder you're a bit down.
I've started a new thread, because I don't feel it right to comment too much on NoM's thread here...

Cheers Dris, Bobbi, Slinky, Craft and Cazzz. I had an altercation with a pedestrian earlier who slammed my wing mirror so hard in temper, I though a car had run into me. I opened the door and asked him if he was a nutter, and he just screamed obscenities at me. I was shaking afterwards, and boy did I fancy a ciggie - but I didn't succumb. :-)
Good luck and try and keep away from places where smokers congregate and from stressful situations if thats possible! Are you using patches gum or the inhalator to help or are you just going cold turkey?
''keep away from places where smokers congregate''

So no more 'round the back of the bike sheds' for you NoM... good luck :-)

Thank you Jigsaw - I'm not using any aids, I am relying solely on will power. If I really want to quit - and believe me, I do - then I shouldn't need back up.

Cheers, Snags x
NoM I have some Old Holborn and Black Rizla roll-ups on the go....I'll give you till the end of the week !! :-))
Nomercy like someone said slinkykate says gum or mints should be your best friends especially after and alcoholic beverage or after a meal when the cravings are likely to kick in.

Redman black rizla? The liquorice ones?
Yes the Liquorice ones ! ;-)
