all wheel drive= drive is all 4 wheels driving at the same time, cannot be used on tarmac or roads
on a 4x4 car ie land rover discovery it has permanant 4 wheel drive so any 1 of the 4 wheels have drive, however if you put the diff lock on it sends drive to front and back but only 1 of the wheels front and back, suitable for use in snow and mud

when you take the diff lock off only one wheel has drive no matter which wheel it is

Well I had to get in and out between Northamptonshire and London last night thanks to my Landrover Defender.

I just don't use it for commuting every day

Incidently tell the Greeks about global cooling - apparently it was 30 degrees in Crete the other week and Nova Scotia is currently dropping down to about -1compared to their normal minimum of about -7 to -10.

It seems the jet stream is quite erratic this winter giving some odd conditions all over
