Most words in Spanish have different meanings.

Por ejemplo: Listo can mean a list, it can mean ready, or it can mean clever.

but ESTUPIDO means stupid as well.

I haven't encountered the word "Dave" in Spanish, but that's not to say it doesn't exist. The name David - pronounced dah.beed. is quite common here.
