So Lets Shaft Our Farmers.....

I have small gall stones and a cyst on my kidney. None of which the doctor is worried about, so nor am i. But i still get this amazing pain in my ribs, but it's not frequent. I wondered if anyone had had stones and could give me any advice on how to keep them at bay. I haven't yet noticed anything that triggers them off. But any advice would be great. Thanks

In the end I was persuaded by my doc to have the stones removed through keyhole surgery. I'd like to be able to say I've never looked back and everything's been fine since, but it ain't so - I put on 3 stone, which I cannot shift for love nor money, and I now suffer with all sorts of gastrointestinal problems... I do wonder whether, had I been an NHS patient rather than BUPA, I might have had different advice from the doc...?
So, if I had my time again, I'd go back to the docs and keep insisting on more help and advice with the diet. I'd also be more willing to seek out "alternative" medications and treatments... interested to know if anyone else has any views on their effectiveness.
Hmm, don't know why my earlier posting's gone funny. Was trying to say:
I was 34 when I got my stones removed (thinking about it, had been ill for about 18 months before the op). I put it down to a misspent youth, lol.
They first arose after I'd lost approx 2.5 stones on Weight Watchers - so much for the benefits of a healthy lifestyle!
