Do you have friends who support implausible sporting nations because of some unlikely ancestral link?

I know guys who, for instance, support Wales at rugby because their "great grandmother came from Cardiff"

So you are 7% Welsh, and 93% English ... therefore you support ...

... Wales ???????

Is this just complete attention seeking?

Or are any ABers "spurious ex-pats" ?

He was adopted by his English Uncle who was a Timpanist for the Royal Philharmonic and Halleys Orchestras, and his Aunt who was a concert pianest. He was English (and Victorian) to the core.

^^ Ooooh, skunni.
For someone quick to post when they think Scotland has been slighted (even t-i-c) that's a little naughty...........:o)
Everybody in my family as far back as we know was Irish. Some have moved to england, south africa and america now.
10 years ago it was a family joke that my son ought to be able to play Rugby for any of the 5 nations...........this was based on supposed family history.

I have spent the last 10 years researching my family tree and can confirm that apart from one Irish great-great-great-grandfather, we are English through and through.............
