Could anyone shed any light on what the little button with a 'snowflake' on it is for exactly ? It's on the automatic gearbox, there is an 'S' button for 'sport' mode, but no idea what the snowflake symbol is for, it doesnt say in the manual either......help.

The snowflake on the auto gearbox is the winter driving setting, it keeps the revs low to improve traction and reduce chance of wheel spinning, basically it does the oposite of the sport button in that it changes gear earlier.
Usually i would say somethin to do with air conditioning but with it being next to the gearstick or within that region anyway, id say it probs isn't air con. maybe its something to do with weather adaptive gearbox or something, sounds a bit far fetched for a 206 though, have a look in the manual for the car.
lol, redrum, go with iggle piggles answer, its alot better than mine, iggle piggle obviously knows his/her stuff. hehehe :-)
apparently
Your 206 auto has gears that can be locked if needed - in other words, keep it in 1 and it won't change, likewise in 2, 3 or 4 the box won't change up higher. Keep it in D for normal driving. The ice symbol is an ignition retarder which is supposed to minimise wheel spin.
You didn't press the snowflake button did you - Now look what you've done!!>>>>.http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotlan

Excellent ! Thanks all ! ! I have at last been put out of my misery..wondering, ever wondering...it did feel more 'secure' while driving on these icy roads recently, more 'heavier' and the little trojan got me up some quite steep hills that were like skating rinks recently ! Cheers Androcles - well funny ! !
I have the exact same car with the exact same snowflake!!! It's snowmode and it does say so in the haynes manual I got for the car. Do all three flash together sometimes? Mine do, wierd.
lol @ androcles, you got there eventually. :-) hehehe

Oh nooooo Dot that sounds no good at all...sorry you are having trouble with Puggy...fingers crossed mine has started first time like a dream in these freezing temperatures....is yours also an automatic with 'tiptronic' gears ?
iggle piggle, thats where you and me are very different. hehehe, i answer any qu, anytime, it just help if i know a liitle bit about the question, its like an added bonus.
it's an automatic, lol dunno about tip[tronic but i'll check....the haynes is in the car but i've got the handbook here, I can't find it in the handbook, I've found all the info on the snow button, page 117 of the handbook, it mentions all the lights flashing and says it is a disruption in the system, do you know I;'ve had this car since March /april 2006 and i;ve never looked at this little handbook, it'w quite good! I get 36.5 MPG apparently,

Think I am going to buy a Haynes manual for it now, you have me intrigued there Dot ! ! I got my wee Puggy June 2008 and not looked back, great car......
They do one of those haynes manuals for it that is the suped up version too, when you customise it. I bought that one first by mistake.
