It is not a virus but spyware / malware.
These are programs that install themselves on your PC and PRETEND you have a virus or other problem to encourage you to part with some money so they can fix it.
DONT PAY ANYBODY ANYTHING.
Thes type of programs can be VERY nasty and can change all sorts of settings on your computer making it unworkable.
Try running malwarebytes to see if that gets rid of it.

The problem is that if you search for a fix for this problem you could well download ANOTHER piece of spyware saying it will fix Additonal Guard for you (it can be be nasty out there on the internet) so you may get in more of a mess.
There is a bit more about it here (which does say malwarebytes will fix it)

...also, what anti-virus software are you running? A lot of people (myself included) swear by the free version of AVG. I also use A-squared (free version again) which finds things AVG missed. Here is the link, it also talks about removal of the "Additional Guard" virus. Media URL: http://www.emsisoft.com/en/malware/Adware.Win32.AdditionalGuard-remove.aspx
