The 2.0 litre version is a bit gutless but it is a well made reliable car.  All the power comes in at about 5000 RPM but then you soon hit the rev limiter.  I guess it depends on how you drive but even if you potter about you'll have to shift gears a bit if going up steep hills (or the car will if its an auto).

Almost a perfect clone of the last generation BMW 3 series. As said above, the 2.0l is smooth, but lacks grunt, the 3.0l gives out a lovely snarl, and is reasonably thrusty. The chassis is described as 'comfortable' and the handling is accurate, the only real downside is the rather cheap interior plastics. They are generally cheaper than the equivalent 3 series, and better equipped too, plus you wont see fifty more every time you go for a drive! Id say the IS200 is roughly a 318i alternative.
