Can anyone tell me when the first origins of the folklore tale "Snow White" are from?

thank you, Clanad, and the best to you for 2010. As you're no doubt aware, we're in the grip of the worst winter in 30 years. I personally have almost two inches of snow on my driveway, so the privations hardly bear thinking about. (Though I must admit people elsewhere have rather more.) However, summer is predicted to be June 24-27 this year, so we all have something to look forward to. I imagine the climate is a bit more pleasant out west where you are.
Hardly, jno. We're in the midst of one of the worst winters in over 25 years. Unlike you, we have about 2 feet of snow on the level and drifts from all the wind in excess of 4 feet. The high temperatures over the last 10 days has been -5 degrees F. As we communicate, it's just after 7:00PM and the temperature is -14, forecast to be 20. We had -25 a few days ago. It's brutal feeding cattle in this weather, even worse keeping the streams and ponds open for water.
Long range forecast does show a warming trend next week, hoever... hope springs (no pun intended) eternal!

Apologies, mandimoo... I haven't checked this thread for a while.. We raise beef cattle here in the western U.S. Primarily a cross breed know in the west as "black balldys" (although this is usually shortened to "black bally" by the western dialect spoken regionally. They are a cross between Hereford and Angus. They are hardy, produce weight gain as well as the purebred Angus and the Hereford DNA supplies an easier delivery of claves, especially for heifers. The Angus supplies a slightly longer lower leg which gives an advantage in the longer distances they have to walk for water in our huge pastures, which can be 5 to 10 sections in size.
A few years ago, we took on a small, voluntary breeding of original Texas Longhorns to preserve this ancient breed. We have about 25 so far and supply breeding stock to others desiring to particiapate in the program.
Apologies to "madamdarkness" for the mini-hijack of the thread...
