Fascinating old churches

I can't pass an old church without going in for a look - and some turn out to be real gems. Not far from where I live, for example, is a Norman church with a huge floor of brasses. On the walls of the chancel hang four knights helmets which were carried on their owners' coffin in the thirteenth to sixteenth centuries, complete with spurs and mail gloves, all of which were then hung on hooks. The present ones are replicas, but I did see the originals, which were removed about fifteen years ago and taken to various museums around the country. Does anyone else know of other churches where  armorial objects such as this still exist ?

I am a church and cathedral fanatic.
Love going round them.My favourite being Winchester Cathedral.

I agree Winchester Catherdral is beautiful & so interesting - so is St. Paul's Cathedral in London.

St.Pauls is a great favourite of mine too Smudge along with Westminster Abbey.When I lived in London I often used to go there for a wander round.You see something new every time.
St.Pauls must be wonderful now after the big clean up.
This is my local church.We are modestly famous for the Bacon Brass and the Gorleston Psalter.

Not quite armorial, but our local church has a cannon ball from the civil war and the chunk that it left in the wall when it was fired at it. The Cavaliers hid from the Roundheads in there I think (or vice versa). St Michael's in Highworth it is.
