Russians (and Nazis) and the Jews

Quite rightly Hitler and the Nazis get a lot of critisism about how they treated the Jews in World War 2, but what about how Russia have treated the Jews in the past.

I watched a repeat of Coast today on BBC2 about how Lithuanian Jews were driven out of the country in Victorian times by their treatment by Russia. I also saw an epsiode of "Who do you think you are" once which also talked about the treatment of the Jews by Russia.

It seems the treatment of Jews by Russia in history is almost forgotten.

Why did the Russians treat the Jews so badly?

Come to that, why have the Jews been treated so badly all over Europe (I remember Mahler, the composor and conductor, suffered from anti Jewish treatment during his life).

Thanks Naomi i missed that from Sqad but it has helped me make my mind up about his statement that non whites should get a far more stringent search when boarding aeroplanes than whites.

sqad you have a dangerously blind and bigotted p.o. view IF you hate jews or any other race en masse. You are educated/old enuf to have seen where jewish haters (Nazi) were lead and to know what genocide is.

Most are right to be offended by blind-bigotry and for that you do owe sara3 an apology (as judiasm is personal to her). I suggest you watch some tv programs on the subject on the History channel, to get yourself more informed on the subject.

Just to answer your question more broadly, VHG: in the middle ages Christians were forbidden to lend money for interest ('usury'); Jews were not, so they got all the business. Moneylenders are never popular. Whenever there were anti-Jewish riots, the rioters were careful to burn their victims' records. Likewise, kings would borrow heavily from Jews to finance wars or building programmes and if they didn't feel like repaying them, they'd just expel them from the country.

I agree with 123everton's point. However Jewish people have always had a homeland and that has always been Israel!.

They have always been persecuted throughout history having no homeland prior to the formation of Israel in 1948. Jewish people have had a long history of being cultured, educated and hard working. They are a nation of people not a race!. Many people don't seem to understand that you can also have people who are Palestinian who are Jewish. Many parts of Africa have Jewish tribes such as the tribe of Gad for example etc etc.

Anyone who can judge and discriminate someone on his/her religion is despicable. I come from a Catholic family but received the 'Diary of Anne Frank' for my seventh birthday and was taught all about the holocaust from a young age. It is shocking to think that young people are not aware of this shocking treatment of the Jewish nation.

I myself have lived on a Kibbutz and have always have had a love of Israel and its people and culture.

When will everyone realise that all people are human beings are are equally entitled to live in a peaceful world. The Jews are only one of a persecuted race. Germany and France colluded prior to the 2nd world war to extract money from people, which they needed to build a new world through industry. They chose the Jews because they had money. The 2nd world war was all about money not a hatred of a race. The banks were behind it all, espcially a well known one 'B'. France were the main instigators and set up French banks. They manipulated Hitler to become the leader to do the dirty deed as he was a psychopath and could be manipulated quite easily. The war was a front for this extraction. Whilst the war was happening monies were being extracted from Jewish accounts. They needed to get rid of the Jews as they were terrified that they would come back after the war for the return of their money, properties etc. France & Germany fell out as Germany asked for money to fund the war but France refused, so Hitler turned to Russia for help and tried to set up the same system there, but it all back fired on Germany. All money, antiques and gold were taken to Switzerland for safe keeping. That's why Switzerland remained a neutral country. It's all about the 'New World Order' and it's on it's way. Don't forget the Vatican who also played a very large part in laundering the money. The Jews who fled to America have taken the Vatican to court and they have agreed to pay back but not one penny or one possession has been returned to date. Soon there will be no cash just debit cards and it will all be controlled by France & Germany. Unfortunately Britain has fell for it hook, line & sinker. Glad I won't be around to see it.
